Wareham for Law and Democracy was formed by seven individuals, who did not all know each other, on March 27, 202 and we held our first Saturday Standout on March 29, 2025. From the start, we were action-oriented, focusing on community involvement. The Saturday after our first meeting, we seven held our inaugural visibility event in front of Wareham Town Hall, and we have been consistently organizing these events weekly since then.
We chose our name to demonstrate our purpose of being centered around fighting for constitutional democracy, resisting authoritarianism, promoting social justice, inclusion, respect, and fairness, and strengthening our community. We actively promote peaceful dissent and welcome anyone concerned with our democracy, regardless of political party, as we believe addressing political issues is crucial for a healthy society.
Our leadership team is evolving as we grow, and we currently have a 13-person steering team that includes (in addition to our founders) those leading events and actions such as our overpass visibility, postcarding/letter writing, working with schools and youth, and more.
We are partnered with Indivisible.
STAND UP. SPEAK OUT. STAY STRONG.
